Maybe you're up for a wedding or a family celebration. Maybe friends are staying at Club Med and this is your chance to finally catch up. Half the family might have booked the resort while the rest of you would rather have your own kitchen and the sound of the waves coming through the balcony doors at night. You could be here for a work event and want a sea view waiting at the end of the day. Or you've had your three nights at the resort and you're not ready to head home yet.

Wherever you fit in, you'll have a place that's yours. Coffee on the balcony while the sun comes up over the water. Sand on your feet after a walk to the tidal pool. And a short drive up the coast whenever it's time to meet everyone for lunch.

We have 13 apartments across five complexes in Shakas Rock: Skiathos, Martinique, Chakas Terrace, Santorini Estate and Pebble Beach. They're all on the beachfront. You step out onto the balcony with your coffee and the Indian Ocean is right there. Getting to the sand is a short walk, not a drive and a hunt for parking.

Every apartment is fully equipped for self-catering. The kitchen is ready for everything from the first coffee of the day to a big family breakfast. Clean linen is on the beds when you arrive and there's space to spread out when you come back salty and sun-tired from the beach.

Bringing the whole family? Our three-and four-bedroom apartments keep everyone under one roof and a few sleep up to eight or nine. If your group needs more than one apartment, get in touch. With seven apartments at Skiathos alone, we can often put you in the same building.

When you call, a real host answers. Whether you need a restaurant for meeting up with the Club Med crowd, directions to the tidal pool or help getting the braai going, you'll always have someone on the coast who knows these apartments inside out.

Each of our 13 apartments suits a slightly different kind of stay. Here are the ones we'd point you to first, depending on who's coming.

6 Skiathos: for wedding parties and big families

Four bedrooms, sleeps 9 and a big veranda looking out to sea, with direct beach access in a secure complex. When the whole extended family is coming up for the celebration, this is the one that fits everyone under one roof.

5 Skiathos and 13 Chakas Terrace: for grandparents and little ones

Both sleep 6 and both are step-free from the parking to the front door. That makes a real difference when you're arriving with grandparents, prams and suitcases that weigh more than the toddler. At 5 Skiathos there's also a big veranda for the ones who'd rather watch the beach than walk to it.

17 Skiathos Penthouse: for couples and families with older children

Top floor, panoramic sea views and the sun coming up over the Indian Ocean while you're still in your dressing gown. If you've done your nights at Club Med and want a few quiet days before heading home, start here.

35 Martinique: for families with kids friends in tow

Sleeps 7, with the seventh guest on a sleeper couch. It's on the third floor with views over the pool to the ocean, a private gas braai for evenings in and Thompson's Bay tidal pool an easy walk away.

36 Perissa, Santorini Estate: for families who like to explore

Sleeps 6 across three bedrooms, each with ocean views and air-conditioning. Head out of the apartment and you've got forest walks through the estate, look-out spots for whales between June and November, the estate swimming pools and direct access to the beach.

Around Shakas Rock between resort days

Chaka's Rock tidal pool is a short walk from Skiathos and Chakas Terrace and shallow enough for little swimmers. Thompson's Bay tidal pool, right by Santorini Estate and an easy walk from Martinique, stretches about 90 metres. That makes it a favourite for early morning laps as the sun comes up.

Humpback whales pass this stretch of coast between June and November. From September they often head south with their calves close to shore, so keep the binoculars on the balcony.

Salt Rock is a few minutes up the road for pastries at Apprêt, dinner at Donna Modern Italian and a toddler-safe paddle at Granny's Pool.

Can I visit friends or family staying at Club Med?
Club Med is an overnight-only resort and doesn't offer day passes, so check visitor options with the resort directly before you go. It's often easier to have everyone over to the apartment for a braai and a swim instead.
